Simple past tense - Irregular verbs (study and practice)

- Positive sentences: I went to school yesterday.
- Negative sentences: I didn't go to school yesterday.
- Questions: Did you go to school yesterday?

Simple Past - Irregular verbs
Unlike with regular verbs, we do not add -ED to conjugate irregular verbs in simple past tense. Irregular verbs have a specific form. E.g. eat -> ate (not "eated")
NOTE: We use these forms of irregular verbs only in positive sentences in simple past tense. E.g. “I went to the theatre last month.” Check the explanation on the following video: |

In negative sentences and questions, we use the auxiliary verb “did” and the main verb in its base form. E.g.:
